As you decide who your ministry’s target audience is, consider these things:
Are you looking for people interested in serving others or only people who need your service?
Are you looking for people struggling with a particular issue?
Are there different stages of this issue which people may be in? If so, do you want to target people in any particular stage(s)? For example, if you had a marriage ministry, you may want to target couples who are growing distant or arguing a lot, but you may not be prepared to minister to people who are actually in the process of divorce.
Are you looking for people who are wanting more in their spiritual life?
If you are looking for donors, are you looking for people who can donate a certain level of support or are you looking for support from anyone at any economic level?
Are you targeting people locally or can you minister to people nationwide through your website?
Take a moment to create a profile of the types of people you would want to attract to your website. Take a few minutes to really think about focus(es) of your ministry and create a profile of the types of people that would most likely be attracted to your ministry.
