Yahoo To Suspend Yahoo Site Explorer
Yahoo has announced that they will be shutting down Yahoo Site Explorer. They have not given an official date, yet, but will probably be around the end of this year or the first part of next year.
Some of the features of Yahoo Site Explorer and some new ones have been and will be developed in Bing’s Webmaster Tools. The transition makes sense since Bing is providing Yahoo’s organic search results now. We don’t really need to places to get the same info and since they are mostly out of the organic search business, it wouldn’t really make sense to continue to use Yahoo resources for search tools.
If you haven’t already signed up for a Bing Webmaster Tools account, I’d encourage you to do so. You will be able to continue to use Yahoo Site Explorer for a few more months, but it should be helpful to familiarize yourself with Bing’s system before the official transition and you can start collecting website info in Bing now so you have more of a history when the transition occurs.
